Markteffect Purchase power Monitor -4th edition

Recession, financial crisis, and rising prices are terms we have become accustomed to in recent years. The impact of inflation is clearly noticeable. For example, 86% of Dutch people notice to some extent that rising prices are affecting their daily lives. Almost half of Dutch people feel that they have adjusted their spending patterns in the past six months due to inflation. Among Generation Z, this figure is as high as 72%.

These insights and more emerge from the fourth edition of the Markteffect Purchase power Monitor, which investigated the extent to which spending patterns over the past six months were influenced by diminished purchasing power.

The study was conducted by independent research agency Markteffect among a representative sample of 1,006 Dutch respondents aged 18 and older. Fieldwork was carried out in November 2025. Download the complete Markteffect Purchase power Monitor to discover the key trends and developments, the categories in which Dutch consumers are making the most savings, and the impact of foreign webshops on purchasing power.
