Markteffect Purchasing Power Monitor - 4th edition

Recession, financial crisis, and rising prices are terms we have become accustomed to in recent years. The impact of inflation is clearly noticeable. For example, 86% of Dutch people feel to some extent that rising prices are affecting their daily lives. Nearly half of Dutch people feel they have adjusted their spending habits over the past six months due to inflation. Among Generation Z, this figure is as high as 72%

These and other findings emerge from the fourth edition of the Markteffect Purchasing Power Monitor, which examined the extent to which spending patterns over the past six months were influenced by reduced purchasing power.

The survey was conducted by the independent research firm Markteffect among a representative sample of 1,006 Dutch respondents aged 18 and older. The fieldwork was carried out in November 2025. Download the full Markteffect Purchasing Power Monitor and discover the key trends and developments, the categories in which Dutch people are saving the most, and the impact of foreign online stores on purchasing power.
