Group discussions

A group discussion is a dynamic form of qualitative research. With a good discussion leader, the discussion between participants provides in-depth qualitative information. This offers insights into complex issues and enables you to implement concrete improvement measures.

In group discussions, it is very important to have a good discussion leader. It is easy to stray from the topic, and without an adequate discussion leader, it is possible that a few individuals will dominate the discussion. We have a moderator who is suited to every specific situation and to your research question.

Thanks to our experience and expertise in the research landscape, we know what is going on. This ensures that we can provide appropriate advice, resulting in relevant research. We maintain good relationships with our clients, so we know what is going on and can really help you.

“Testing the product concept and gaining insights from consumers was a crucial part of the further development and positioning of our product. Markteffect owns and developed the research process down to the last detail. Their final report made a major contribution to the creation of the proposition and the end product.” - Denis Salamadin, Marketing Manager Kalfire

Why have a group discussion with us?

During a group discussion, a moderator, also known as a discussion leader, will lead a discussion on a specific topic with a number of people from your target group for approximately 1.5 hours. Before the group discussion takes place, we will consult with you to determine which topics will be discussed during the group discussion and what the objectives of the research are. The discussion script is structured in such a way that the participants delve deeper and deeper into the subject of the research.

We are happy to take care of recruiting participants for you. We will consult with you to determine the requirements that participating respondents must meet. Based on these requirements, we will invite and screen panel members who fall within the target group. It is of course also possible to invite business relations or customers to participate.

We always confirm participants by telephone. It is customary to give participants compensation for their participation and travel expenses. During the kick-off meeting, we will determine which incentive is appropriate in consultation with you.

Watch the group discussion live

Group discussions can be conducted at various locations, but in most cases a neutral location is preferable in order to prevent influence. We have two rooms in our office that are specially equipped for conducting qualitative research. Our discussion room is equipped with an HD camera and microphones.

You will be given the opportunity to watch the group discussion live in an observation room. The research specialist or client consultant will listen in with you, so that you can hear the participants' responses in full. At the end of the discussion, there will always be time to ask the participants a few additional questions based on the discussion.
