Taste Test: Bavaria 0.0%

How does the new Bavaria 0.0% lager taste? Bavaria was founded in 1719, making it one of the oldest family-owned businesses in the Netherlands. For seven generations, the Swinkels family has been brewing beer according to a unique family recipe. By using pure ingredients, Bavaria has guaranteed the highest quality for 300 years. In addition, Bavaria is a leader in bringing new products to market. Over the years, this has allowed Bavaria to establish a leading position in a number of niche markets. For example, Bavaria is also the pioneer of the one and only non-alcoholic beer.

New Recipe

To maintain its leading position in the non-alcoholic beer market, Bavaria is committed to continuing to innovate. For this reason, Bavaria has developed a new recipe for its 0.0% lager. Bavaria wanted to know how consumers would rate the new 0.0% lager, particularly in terms of taste. In response, Markteffect conducted a blind taste test for Bavaria’s new 0.0% product.

The study involved two target groups: users of Bavaria 0.0% lager and users of 0.0% lager from other brands. Participants were asked to come to a central location where they were offered four different 0.0% lager varieties. These included both the original and the new Bavaria 0.0% lager, as well as 0.0% lagers from two major competitors. After tasting the beers, the participants reported their findings. This was done via a questionnaire that could also be completed on their own phones using a QR code. After the study, the tasters went home with a well-deserved basket of various 0.0% and specialty beers.

Each session lasted approximately 20 minutes, and over the course of two days, a total of 200 respondents participated in the study.

The results of the study show that the new Bavaria 0.0% is rated significantly higher for its refreshing taste and the beer’s accessibility. Furthermore, the new Bavaria 0.0% lager achieved the highest score for similarity to alcoholic lager. With all these results, the new Bavaria 0.0% lager emerged as the best 0.0% lager in the test.

The product has since been successfully launched, and consumer reactions have been positive.
